This 1976 vintage single cask rum from Dictador was released as part of the 2 Masters collection, showcasing collaborations between Dictador and other spirits masters. This release was made in partnership with Armagnac producer Laballe. Initially, the rum was finished in bourbon barrels before it made its way over from Colombia to Laballe in Armagnac where it spent its final six months resting in a medium toasted Gascon Noir Chene oak cask. It was eventually bottled at 46% ABV, with an outturn of 384 bottles.
Great complexity and soft vanilla extract, crème caramel, almond butter, banana leaf esters, punctuated by dried apple and figs as well as powerful phenols.
It expands and coats the palate with rich dark chocolate, mocha and toasted pecans as an overlay to the more expansive sea-salt caramel and maple bar, going into a long supple finish that lingers with nice touches of caramel apple and high-grade marzipan.
