
Another excellent That Boutique-y Rum Company bottling from the Diamond Distillery - this time produced using the distillery's wooden Port Mourant Still and matured for 11 years. The Port Mourant clearly has a bit of wanderlust, beginning its life at the Port Mourant Distillery before moving to the Uitvlugt Distillery then moving on to the Diamond Distillery!
Batch 2 is a release of 710 bottles.
Freshly-laid asphalt, oak char and red chilli heat initially, then brown sugar, a hint of creamy vanilla and plenty of pickle-brine salinity. There’s an underlying meatiness to the nose, which is complemented by sweeter notes of roasted fruit, cinnamon and toffee.
Rich molasses spice, caramel and heaps of banana pancakes, with hints of earthy smoke, chilli jam and sea salt throughout.
A long, muscular finish balances spice and sweet notes well.
