An impressive rum from Angostura, made using the Trinidadian distillery's continuous multi-column still and aged in charred bourbon casks. This blend combines rums aged between five and 14 years and pays homage to a historic blend developed by the Fernandes family in the 1800s. The name 1919 is also a tribute to a bit of Trinidadian rum history – following a catastrophic fire at its government rum bond in 1932, hundreds of rather charred casks of the Fernandes family blended rum that had been filled in 1919 were salvaged from the ashes, resulting in an unrepeatable batch that is reported to have been exquisite!

Rich and spiced. Cola, toasty oak. Vanilla spice and caramel. Plenty of ginger and molasses.
Juicy, sweet. Allspice, caramel, creamy vanilla. Molasses.
It finishes on vanilla cream, rounded and spiced.
I got this while trying to find a cheaper substitute to the Zacapa 23 I'm very impressed with. The 1919 has a very distinct "rumy" palate, so if you're in to rum you'll love this, but the flavors are not strong enough to my taste. On the other hand, this thing is crazy smooth! I had to double check the bottle to make sure it's 40 abv. Even though it's not a Zacapa, it's still a very solid drink and I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
Between 1919, Flor de Caña 12 Year and Appleton 12 Year is all you need in rum.
This is a very light vanilla after taste rum. Nice with a nit of coke, with ice or just as it is. One of my favorites.
A lovely Rum enjoyed it.
I'm not a big rum fan, but I really like this. Too bad they changed the bottle presentation, the older look was more classy.
