An interesting expression from Mezcal Vago – Elote is a mezcal made with espadín agave where, between the second and third distillation, roasted corn is added into the mix. This imparts a touch of sweetness, as well as bolsters the smoky notes that mezcal fans will be familiar with. Fascinating stuff, this.
Earthy, toasty, bold smoke building, with delicate vanilla and a hint of vegetal sweetness.
A really pleasant and fairly easy-drinking Mezcal. It's an ideal addition into an Old Fashioned, adding the kind of flavour profile that means you can just dial back on the sugar somewhat. Worth a try!
