Derrumbes Zacatecas is made of 100% Blue Weber Agave in Huitzila, Zacatecas, a region known for producing mezcals that are made in the style of tequila.
The Bañuelos family, who handled the creation of this edition of Derrumbes, is one of the only regional distillers left producing mezcal in a traditional style: that is mezcal that is pit roasted, tahona milled, and matured in underground tanks lined with pine wood after distillation via a wooden still.
The Derrumbes Zacatecas is an interesting opportunity to sample a more authentic and ancient expression of Blue Weber Agave-based mezcal.
Big handfuls of black pepper with agave smoke behind it, before more sweet notes of roasted fruit, pine resin and burnt wood begin to take shape.

Been enjoying this since I first had it and I still love it now there's not many like it
So no surprise yet another great artisanal liquid. Get it whilst you can, a true agave. I am greatful to sample this one time unique maguey.
