Volare use a combination of Brazilian and African coffee beans to make their Espresso Coffee liqueur - certainly this should make many fine cocktails, and ought to go rather well with rye whiskey we reckon...
Previously, I was content with Kahlua in my Espresso Martinis, but it is a little cloying and chocolatey. On sampling them made with Volare, I initially loved it, but the relative bitterness became slightly too much - reading as a slightly aniseed aftertaste. True perfection, however, comes with 1 part Kahlua, 1 part Volare Espresso, 2 parts Vodka, and 2 parts fresh espresso (or 3 to 4 parts if it's already chilled.) Makes a very easy cocktail slightly fiddlier; but it's well worth it!
Lovely to sip on it's own over ice or as part of an espresso martini. Nicer than Kaluha.
Unless you're looking for a coffee liqueur to drink straight (weirdo) this is perfect for cocktails and of decent quality. Have had just as good feedback on an espresso martini using volare, as one using far more expensive brands. Fantastic value!
Overly sweet, can't taste the coffee. Tasted of burnt caramel.
