A very rich, velvety Amaro from grappa producers, Nonino. This is made by infusing a selection of herbs in aged grape distillate. Rather yummy over ice with a slice fresh orange or with a sprig of mint...

I discovered this while working several months in Udine. I have tried about 10 of the various amari but this is my favourite. Over ice with a slice of orange after a big meal it is great; it might just be my imagination but I really do feel like it "settles the stomach" if you have eaten a bit too much pasta!! I prefer it to the Amaro del Capo because its not as sweet, its slightly orangey in flavour and not overly herby or medicinal, I think it is a very nicely balanced amaro. A great tipple from a lesser-known but very enjoyable Italian city.
