Full of scrumptious figs, Edmond Briottet Créme de Figue is a delicious liqueur. In Malta, they serve Fig liqueur with Nougat (an indescribably good combination), or you can even use it to dress a fig salad. We love it in cocktails too.
The delivery and service was brilliant but unfortunately I can't say the same for the Fig liqueur. It didn't taste at all like fig and I actually found the taste rather unpleasant to the point where I couldn't drink it. Such a shame as the Briottet Creme de Peche is superb.
I have the same comment about this as the other Briottet liqueur I've tried, the creme de kumquat. On the plus side, the fruit flavour is wonderful and entirely natural, without a hint of flavour-science fiddling. On the minus, these liqueurs are so intensely sweet that they really can only work as part of a dessert; in a cocktail, you can't taste the fruit flavour anymore by the time they are sufficiently diluted to cut the sweetness. But I will now contradict myself: I have used small pours of the fig liqueur with spiced rum to make a nice, but definitely sweet, cocktail.
