La Gauloise
According to legend, La Gauloise is named as such because it was created back when France was still called La Gaule! The recipe was lost to time, but then rediscovered in an old grimoire, or textbook of magic, and revived by liqueur maker Sieur Requier. The base for this liqueur is double distilled over a wood fire with an array of ingredients including angelica, St. John's wort, saffron, and cardamom, then balanced with a helping of fine spirit and sugar syrup before it's slowly aged. Enjoy this neat over ice, or for adding bittersweet, herbaceous character to your cocktails.
