A French star anise and wormwood flavoured liqueur from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence, first produced in 1990. However, it's not just anise and wormwood you'll find in Pastis Henri Bardouin, oh no. It's a blend of 65 different herbs and spices, many of which are secret. Such mystery, so many ingredients, much intrigue. Enjoy this as an aperitif with plenty of water.
Richly herbal, with excited notes of star anise sitting beneath simmering spiced notes of cardamom and pepper.
Decidedly green (and not just from the historical connection between Pastis liqueurs and Absinthe) with fresh, roughly chopped herbs, warming spices and, of course, the distinctive notes of wormwood.
Lasting spicy notes.
Quite complex, as you would expect from a liqueur with such an expansive recipe, but it's well balanced and enjoyable.
Have been buying this in France for years and we are delighted to be able to buy it here, in the UK, on line. In our opinion Henri Bardouin is a simply superb pastis. Especially at the end of hot summer day. Masters of Malt filled our most recent order swiftly and the bottles (yep, plural! ?) arrived very well packed. Will definitely order from M of M again.
I spent six months in Provance in early 1970s and got to really enjoy pastis and ricard. Reminds me of when I was young and of Provance, especially Marseille. I really nice drink with ice and water
Early in lockdown I looked out for this and lucky enough to get myself a gift set with 2 glasses, before Brexit kicked in. wonderful subtle notes of aniseed and liquorice backnotes. Will buy again as is more subtle and refined than my previous go-to from Marseille ( a decade past). Worthy of the Grand Cru assignation
Smooth and complex flavours. To be sipped and savoured. No water needed. Knocks spots all the others most of which are much harsher tasting.
One of the nicest drinks I have ever tasted.
