Gammel Dansk is a Danish bitters, and the name literally means "Old Danish". It was first created in 1961 and it is flavoured with herbs and spices including star anise, nutmeg, ginger, laurel, gentian, Seville orange, cinnamon and others. The recipe remains a secret.

It goes very well with Anthon Berg ~ marzipan/blueberry chocolate, and best thing is to drink an espresso shut after this to complete the ceremony ?
Incredible stuff, not like anything I've tasted. It's a refined taste, but one you'll certainly remember.
I love it. My wife's Danish relatives turned me on to it. After developing a taste for it it is my favorite after dinner drink. My biggest complaint is finding it the southwestern USA.
It tastes like herb remedies. I love it.
Simply amazing! My favourite by far.
