The Carthusian monks at Chartreuse monastery in Vauvert don't just make the green and yellow editions of Chartreuse liqueur you know. This one is herbal aperitif liqueur made with gentian root and citrus distillates. Great in mixed drinks with cassis or soda or in a white negroni.
Bitter, grassy, earthy and ultimately refreshing.

Unfortunately, I don't have a bottle of Suze at hand for a side-by-side comparison, but going from memory, I reckon this is slightly sweeter and notably more orangey (though not like the old bright red familiars), and so perhaps somewhat more versatile in cocktails; for instance, I think this'd make a better "white negroni" than Suze. If you *almost* like Suze but find it a little much, this may be your sweet spot. In other words, this is a gentian-forward liqueur (strong, earthy bitterness) with an accommodating sweet orange element that rounds the edges off. Not my favourite gentian-based aperitif, but a very good one.
