New from Tobermory Distillery
Ledaig Castaway
Rum and Tequila cask-matured peated single malt
A Distillery first: Rum + Tequila
Ledaig Castaway marks the first time Tobermory Distillery has released a whisky aged in a combination of Caribbean rum casks and Mexican Tequila casks.
This rare combo gives the single malt Scotch whisky a raft of new flavours to add to its signature maritime peat smoke. Think grilled pineapple, mango and citrus alongside agave, salted vanilla, warm spice, and woodsmoke.
Tobermory is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, creating whisky on the Isle of Mull since 1798. As Mull’s only whisky distillery, the spirits made here are shaped by a rugged maritime climate, a creative island community, and a deep connection to place.
Master blender Julieann Fernandez leads the charge, curating an award-winning portfolio spanning the fruit-forward, unpeated Tobermory and the bold, sweet and smoky, peated Ledaig.
A whisky with a cause
The Castaway release is part of an ongoing partnership with the Mull and Iona Community Trust, which has raised £60,000 in donations through limited-edition bottlings. These donations support local projects protecting and maintaining the island’s unmistakeable landscape.
This year, the £20,000 Ledaig Castaway will support the Trust’s Ranger Service, helping maintain access to key locations across the island, including Rubha nan Gall lighthouse, featured on the pack. The lighthouse, which takes its name from the Gaelic words, ‘strangers point’, is located at the entrance to Tobermory Bay and has long welcomed visitors to the island.
The Ledaig Range
Beyond Castaway there's some sublime Ledaig whiskies to try. In particular, we think the below offer an ample snapshot of what the distillery is capable of.
