About Glen Grant

Founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, over the years the distillery has earned a reputation for crafting consistently high-quality whiskies that showcase the essence of Speyside, appealing to both whisky enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

John Grant's nephew, Major James Grant, took over the distillery in 1872 and played a significant role in its expansion. He was a visionary, modernising the distillery, introducing electric light in the 1880s, and designing the tall, slender stills that define Glen Grant’s unique production style. These tall stills and purifiers help produce whisky that is remarkably light and crisp, distinguishing Glen Grant from many of its Speyside counterparts.

The Glen Grant distillery is not just known for its whisky; it is also home to beautiful Victorian gardens. Major James Grant designed these gardens, and they remain a key attraction for visitors today. With winding paths, bridges, and lush greenery, the gardens provide a serene backdrop for whisky tasting experiences at the distillery.
