Mediterranean gin distilled in a thirteenth century chapel in an ancient fishing village where every bottle is unique as every year the star product, arbequina olive, changes acidity. Gin Mare is made with a variety of botanicals including rosemary, thyme, basil with lots of zest. This stuff can easily be paired with a vast range of foods and ingredients if you fancy it.
Herbal nose with berry fruits. Hints of soapiness and perfume.
Very herbal and aromatic palate. Perfume-like delivery. Coriander and tart juniper, citrus zest.
Zesty, spiced finish.
Not a bad gin per se but one where too many contrasting botanicals have been used. As a result it become muddled on the palate and extremely bitter to the taste! Would not be buying again!
Absolutely an amazing gin. Fruity nose with a hint of citrus. Had it neat just well chilled. The usual alcohol burn one expects is not present. Smooth mouth feel and yes, a very slight hint of olives. Don’t think I would mix this with anything at all.
Had it for the first time at a GinFest in Malta earlier this year. It was served with 1724 Tonic Water (same producers as Gin Mare), lemon peel, a sprig of rosemary and ice. Perfect drink for a warm Mediterranean evening. Definitely a keeper.
Ok but rather disappointing considering the hype. There are better guns for far less money!
Very elegant gin. The blend of citrus peels from orange and lemon from bitter to sweet along with the olive, thyme, and rosemary aromatics with basil back notes make for a lovely Martini that is savory, “mouthy”(my taste buds come to life,) and perfect for a pre feast aperitif. I look forward to coming home at the end of the week to build the perfect Martini to inspire my supper prep. I love it!
