A 'does-what-it-says-on-the-tin' release from Ableforth's. Epic concentration, huge nose, massive punch. The best gin EVER for a Last Word? We think so.
It's made with the excellent Bathtub Gin Navy-Strength as a base, which not only has a higher abv than the regular Bathtub Gin, but a larger botanic hit due to the fact that the botanicals get all 'bashed up' (technical term). For up to 6 months it's then aged in small 50 litre casks (about a fifth of the size of a normal hogshead), offering a greater surface area to volume ratio, that in turn leads to greater interaction between spirit and wood. Science.
Rich marmalade, earthy juniper, complex spices and vanilla. The time in the cask has brought the botanicals together, with added influence from the cask itself to produce a stunning, rounded gin.
Sensational mouthfeel with those Christmas spices coming through. Creamy, syrupy citrus integrates throughout with fragrant juniper still providing the core.
Extraordinarily long, deceptively smooth and richly spiced.
A truly unique top drawer gin for the world's best Last Words.
Oh wow, what can I say. I’m not a connoisseur ‘taster’, but I can tell that this gin is very special. It tastes wonderful, with a complex depth of flavour - I could definitely taste the hint of whisky. Absolutely delightful. I took a bottle out to Dubai (pre Brexit) and shared it with my son in law - we both agreed, this is a fabulous gin. I’m delighted that the Masters are again shipping to Cyprus ; as soon as it’s back in stock I’ll be ordering a couple of bottles.
We purchased this for our gin tasting in the restaurant. The groups favourite by a distance. The cask ageing gives it a gorgeous rich, spicy quality. Perfect!
Plenty of heat, plenty of complexity. Neat? Over ice? In a cocktail? Yessir. All night long.
This very definitely isn't for the faint of heart, but it's a massively rich and really nicely-aged gin. Don't know how much of the colour is from the cask, and how much is from the botanicals, but it's deep in colour not just in flavour. Delicious.
Unmistakably Bathtub, but with an extraordinary extra depth. Fantastic Negroni with spiced Vermouth.
