Cask-Aged Gin from the marvellous Ableforth's! Made by taking tiny "octave" casks (roughly a fifth of the capacity of standard hogsheads), and filling them with the multi-award-winning Bathtub Gin, the spirit is then aged for between three to six months before bottling.
Thanks to the large surface area to volume ratio of these small casks, the gin gains all kinds of complexity and flavour during these months.
The result is a wonderfully spicy, rich and buttery gin. Although no longer released in individual batches, nothing about the production of this fantastic gin has actually changed so fill yer boots!
Rich juniper notes and soft caramelised orange. It's very mellow, but with a depth of botanicals that draw you further and further in. Creamy soft butter and vanilla sweetness.
A velvety mouthfeel, it rolls easily over the tongue with that wonderful creamy orange sweetness. Juniper and sugared peel roll in and fade out slowly into the finish.
Orange creams, with a smooth, long-lasting sweet softness in the mouth.
The cask ageing has added such smoothness and creaminess to this gin. It's wonderful stuff.
This is by far and away my favourite of the current range of bathtub gins by the distillery. It is creamy, smooth and a great tipple neat.
I adore this gin, it’s inexpensive price may put you off, but don’t be fooled, it has a complex taste and a smoothness that makes it ideal to drink neat. Dive in!
Just tried it for the first time lovely flavour really enjoyed it
I have never tasted a gin so redolent of Christmas. Better than both plain bath tub and Old Tom as it combines its sweet spice with a smoothness on the tongue.
This is infinitely better than the bottle I tried a couple of years ago. It's aparrently now changed to being matured in 50 litre ex-bourbon, and the change is both delicious and welcome. Steer clear of new oak guys.
