French whisky distillery Rozelieures is nestled in the Lorraine region and backed by the G. Miclo family, more known for their fruit brandies, deciding to venture into whisky production. But Lorraine, with its fertile plains and distinct terroir, offers a unique environment for barley production and hence whisky making.
The brand makes both peated and unpeated whisky and double distills its whisky in copper stills. The cask programme also boasts a variety of oak casks, featuring the likes of sherry, Sauternes, and even Cognac.
Though France might be more renowned for its wines and cognacs, Rozelieures is one of the pioneers of French single malt whiskies that demonstrates that the new world of whisky has an old drinks giant at its forefront.
