Ben Èideann Whisky
Michael Dougan was born to an impoverished immigrant family in Victorian Glasgow. He showed remarkable tenacity and entrepreneurship. He founded a successful spirits business and a pub on Castle Street, Glasgow. Four generations later, his family honours his spirit by producing Ben Èideann Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
A key step in making this whisky is the careful selection of Kosher casks. Each cask is inspected by a master cooper to ensure the highest quality wood. This is crucial as the wood contributes significantly to the whisky's flavour.
Ben Èideann Highland Single Malt embodies traditional Scottish whisky-making. It's made from the best malted barley and distilled twice in copper pot stills. After distillation, it ages in ex-bourbon American oak casks, absorbing colour and taste from the wood.
Their Distillery Edition offers a rich golden whisky with tropical fruit, cereal, and vanilla aromas. It tastes of passion fruit, pineapple, sugar, and creamy vanilla custard, with a long, spicy finish.
The Galilean Ruby variant presents oak and spice aromas. On the palate, you'll find chocolate, strawberry, plum, malt biscuit, and coffee bean flavours. It finishes with a sweet-spiced taste of summer fruits.
Fìonain is another special whisky. Aged in American bourbon casks, it is finished in Cabernet Sauvignon red wine casks from Jerusalem. This blends bourbon's sweetness and vanilla notes with the robust fruits from the wine casks.
The Edah HaChareidis has awarded Ben Èideann whiskies the prestigious Badatz Hechsher. It was the first Scottish Single Malts to receive this honour.
Ben Èideann is more than just whisky. It's a tribute to Michael Dougan's resilience and innovation. It's also a testament to the pursuit of excellence across generations.
