That Boutique-y Whisky Company Miltonduff, Glen Keith and Allt-a-Bhainne

Well it’s certainly been quite a while since we put out any new Boutique-y whiskies. Over 3 months in fact. Erm. Sorry about that. Will try and be more hyperactive in the future. Promise.

After a clutch of slightly more esoteric ideas in the last set of releases, we’re coming firmly back to the ‘whisky world’ with these three, each one featuring some of our compadres from the geeky, obsessive, and at times slightly worrying world we all inhabit.

Master of Cocktails Scottish Gold Rush

Welcome to the second instalment of Master of Cocktails, our new cocktail recipe feature on Twitter each and every Sunday evening (#MasterofCocktails), followed by a write up here on the Blog the very next day!

Last night, we made something super-easy with just three ingredients: whisky, honey and lemon. Yep, I’ve got a massive cold, but rather than what you may be thinking, we actually created a twist on The Gold Rush.

In terms of the whisk(e)y, a bourbon-matured scotch is ideal, or simply a bourbon, or at a push, just anything that’s not peated! For a truly perfect choice see below…

Ardbeg Tractour

Ever been stuck behind a tractor on a narrow road on Islay? Or anywhere else for that matter? Ardbeg, it seems, have created the perfect solution…

With a little help from automobile whizz extraordinaire Paul Burnham, Ardbeg have succeeded in turning a reliable farmer’s best friend (the sort of indestructible behemoth you could leave rusting in a field for a decade and it would still start up first time) into a shiny chrome-clad hot rod! In fact, as you can see in the video below, their 1950s Massey Ferguson tractor can now show Formula 1 cars from the following decade who’s boss!

Back at the end of May, just before all the busyness and rushing about, Ben and I attended a very special event, which I was no doubt supposed to write about back then. Drawing attention to the fact that I didn’t is probably a terrible decision, but the people must still know, damn it!

The time has come for you to learn all about this: Glenfarclas & Hine 1953 – Auld Alliance.

Woah boy.

Would you believe it’s been over a quarter of a year since the last batch of releases from That Boutique-y Whisky Company? Amazing. It’s almost like we had other stuff on.

Well – all that ‘being about the place’ nonsense is behind us now (for a bit), and due to a freshly sustained ankle injury (The other one for those of you paying attention. Gah) I’m at liberty to take a few moments to tell you about the new releases which sit before me today.

It’s fair to say that Feis Ile aka That Boutique-y Whisky Company On Tour 2013 was a rip-roaring success! Enjoyment was had by all, 3 fantastic Competitions were run and entered into with rabid enthusiasm. And nobody died, either! Great success.
