This is made by a British couple, Ruth and Charles Simpson in the Languedoc who also produce some very tasty wine in Kent under the Simpson label. This sits at the top of their range of French wines, hence the name Le Pinacle. It's mainly syrah with a dash of viognier for aromatics just like they do in Cote Rotie. This now beautifully mature and would be great with slow-roasted leg of lamb.
Ripe spicy nose with dark cherries, violets and cloves. Dense dark fruit on the palate with black olives, dark cherries and smoked bacon. Long and complex.
