This organic Châteauneuf-du-Pape - one of Southern France's legendary wines - is made from a blend of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. It's aged in concrete tanks and big wooden casks so you're not getting the taste of new oak. The producer Chapoutier is one of the big names of the Rhone, producing high quality wines across the range. It's unusual to see a mature Châteauneuf-du-Pape at this price so hurry as it's unlikely to be around for long. Decant just before serving with big meaty dishes. You won't be disappointed.
Big ripe autumn fruits on the nose with some smoky bacon and rosemary notes. Fruit still nice and fresh on the palate, blackberries and raspberries, followed by notes of leather, baking spices and chestnut.
