It's finally here - the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. This expression begins life being aged in the same way as the classic Woodford Reserve, but following this, it is further matured in barrels which have been heavily toasted and lightly charred. This imparts an added depth of sweet oaken character to the whiskey, as well as developing the fruit, vanilla and caramel notes.
*UK (excluding Channel Islands) and retail only. Offer from 06 06 2025, while stock lasts.
Black cherries, toffee, dark chocolate, honey and toasted almonds.
Rich and full with notes of baked apples, cinnamon, cloves and caramel.
Creamy and smooth with vanilla and baking spices.
Living in Britain with relatives on the Scottish Borders, I've had a few whiskeys in my time! This is one of my preferences, lovely taste and really sits well with me. Certainly the best US I've had. Enjoy, make your own mind up
Bought this off the back of the cheaper Woodford which is what got me started with this whole thing.... Thought the price hike would make a difference but we were left disappointed and prefer the entry level one. Plenty of other bottles for this price that offer a much better experience. Would but recommend this, or buy it again.
I really like the standard Woodford Reserve so thought I'd try this as a step up. Unfortunately its a step down. Woody, bitter and hot whereas the standard Woodford Reserve is smooth, vanilla and easy drinking. This was fine in cocktails but not great as a sipping bourbon.
N: Fleshy red apple. P: Full flavoured. Cherry powder bomb. A: There's a chalky currant finish with sufficient remnants of the cherry palate to remain wonderfully and subtly flavoursome.
Bought as a gift as it’s his favourite. Smooth and brilliant in cocktails
