It's finally here - the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. This expression begins life being aged in the same way as the classic Woodford Reserve, but following this, it is further matured in barrels which have been heavily toasted and lightly charred. This imparts an added depth of sweet oaken character to the whiskey, as well as developing the fruit, vanilla and caramel notes.
Black cherries, toffee, dark chocolate, honey and toasted almonds.
Rich and full with notes of baked apples, cinnamon, cloves and caramel.
Creamy and smooth with vanilla and baking spices.
I wish it was above 45% but i still think this is one of the best bourbons I've ever tried, and I tried some 3 times the price.
Absolutely smooth with dominant flavors of butterscotch and brown sugar. Wonderful mellow spice flavor is perfect while having during baking season for the family gatherings. I generally prefer the spicier Four Rose's Single Barrel and rye whiskeys but this just had such a wonderful flavor that's a nice departure from the bite of rye. I highly recommend it for bourbon drinkers. Scotch fans may find this expression too sweet.
I'm a Woodford Reserve Employee, great seeing all the awesome feedback from our Bourbon. We are releasing a new Wheat bourbon but not sure the availability. The Double Oaked is said to be one of the best.
This is my favorite bourbon. Smooth as silk. I love it on the rocks. Cheers
