From William Grant comes Aerstone Sea Cask, a 10 year old single malt hailing from the Ailsa Bay Distillery. Its decade of maturation wasn't spent quite in the sea, though those maritime notes were still soaked up thanks to its ageing process in warehouses by the sea on the Ayrshire coast in Scotland.
Buttery toffee, creamy vanilla, freshly baked shortbread, honeyed malt, orange citrus and a dusting of cinnamon and cocoa.
Floral malt, nougat, vanilla sponge and more honey, with orange sweeties, icing sugar and earthy oak.
Notes of clove, candied lemon and vanilla pod linger, as a pinch of salt appears on the finish.
Great taste and smooth.
Excellent value for the price. I had some bad experiences with whiskies of low price, but this one is perfectly decent. Perhaps not of overwhelming complexity, and perhaps still a bit young or a bit too alcoholic in the palate (but I like the nose very much, malty, sweet and salty). So I would not say that it is a great whisky, but it is still very enjoyable. And they sell it for what it is: "Smooth & Easy". What you read is what you get.
Pleasant enough. Slightly smoother and milder than the standard Grants Triple Wood, but rather lacking in flavour. I paid £21 and wouldn’t want to pay any more than that. I wish they would ditch the silly and unnecessary cardboard tube.
For the price it's good value, nothing amazing but by no means a bad whisky. Improves with a bit of time to breath in the glass and a drop or two of water. Probably would makes a good old fashioned or highball
Absolutely superb
