This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

Excellent given the price point - Nose reminds me of toffee pennies, on the palate (neat) I think it's balanced well, sweet with just enough oak, although the finish is a bit short and underwhelming for me.
Best served straight from freezer in tumbler
My wife and I drink Wild Turkey 101 religiously. It is our go to drink. 3/4 cup of ice, fill 1/2 with Turkey, and top it off with diet 7 up. We have been drinking it this way for years. We actually got a bottle today in Carmel, CA while on vacation. It doesn't taste like Wild Turkey. We decided not to drink it. If Wild Turkey 101 doesn't taste totally delicious, there is probably something wrong with it because it is delicious.
I never liked bourbon, but this one is an exception I like it a lot... Yes a lot!!! I always avoid bourbon or American whisky, no offense but its just not my thing, but this bottle change my perception. Never thought this bourbon would win my heart, it has a nice and complex flavour and just little burn for 101 ABV (few drop of water make this dram perfect). This is the first bourbon I bought more than 1 bottle, I think I already had 5 bottle of this. Why I rate it 5 out of 5, because the price is very good (only SG$41 in changi duty free)
This rye with the distinctive tobacco en cigar boxes nose is very good indeed.A bit of melted butter on toast in the background makes a fantastic and complex straight rye whiskey I had the straight bourbon before, but this was the first Wild Turkey Rye I tasted.A real gem.
