This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

nothing defeats your average "you mean nothing to me" christmas visits from in-laws like a liter of 100 proof whiskey. But if you don't like rye, don't get this whiskey. Get some kind of bourbon instead.
Got a liter that should get me through the holidays. Coming to this bottle from knobb creek 120 single barrel. Not much nose, a lot of pepper and that is the rye. Probably going back to Beam after this. Reminds me of Russells Reserve Rye. Also the pepper and proof remind me of knobb creek 100 rye. Will have to see what the dreggs taste like in a week, canadian 100% rye dreggs tasted like cough syrup. Never doing canadian rye again. Seems like a long finish to me, compared to some other reviewers. It's a sizable whiskey. No need to leave sitting too long, no heads or tails in it. 5 stars for the extra 250 ml.
For the money you can't buy better. Love it!
I'm a scotch drinker but like Wild Turkey 101. Discovered 3, 50-year-old unopenedbottles in the back of a cabinet and open one. The cork was a mess but the bourbon is still quite delicious.
My go-to brand, and I’ve tried them all. As good or better than brands costing $20 more. Count me as another who is disappointed in the new 1.75L bottle design. Too heavy for the new shape. Need the handle!
