This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

Wild Turkey was the first bourbon I tried. It was in America whilst on holiday and I was mind blown. It was quite sometime before I tried it again due to it's lack of exposure in England. I tried Four Roses, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam etc but nothing gets remotely close to the wonderful rich taste of Wild Turkey. I live in France now and have managed to import some Wild Turkey from Spain but will be making enquiries with yourselves.
Beautifully smooth drop, with a great burn to it. One of the Best Bourbons in my Price Range and when it's on Special....HEAVEN!
meh, though wt101 sustained me through a difficult holiday season, i just dumped a handle of wt101 down the drain. decided my last bottles will only be top shelf so bought a russells reserve single barral 110 proof. so smooth and you actually smell and taste the experience these reviewers wax poetic about. anything less than top shelf with those types of reviews are lies. also dumped out half a handle of bulleit rye. The rendevous blended rye from high west, th0ugh top shelf, cannot compare with russels single barrel, that's just the lowdown.
I discovered this because I was in waitrose and they dont do tullamore D.E.W. for my customery whiskey-and-7upFree (trust me, its good). Holy crap I am so glad I took the time to warm it a little in my hand, let it breathe and sip. I will not be adding 7upF to this beauty! For £32, holy crap!
Very deep, Rick flavour. Aromas of vanilla, brown sugar, leather, and oak on the nose. At sip. Charred Oak, brown sugar, vanilla, leather, sweet hay. Wild Turkey 101’s #4 char is very hard to beat. I really enjoy Old Grand Dad 100 proof is one of my other favourites. This really gives Old Grand Dad a run for its money. I recommend very highly.
