Master of Malt's #WhiskySanta has returned to give away free orders, £100 vouchers, tens of thousands of pressies inside packages, and to grant Christmas wishes too!
This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

Wild Turkey was my go-to bourbon for a couple years. One day I encountered a bad bottle which I guess can happen. This bottle was undrinkable. It left a burning sensation on my tongue and throat. I know what it should have tasted like and this bottle was completely off. I exchanged the bottle at the liquor store for another. Same problem! They obviously had a bad batch. I thought this time I would contact them for a replacement because I assumed they would stand behind their product and be concerned about it. I was wrong. I contacted them and it took many emails and phone calls over a span of 3 whole months before they finally replaced the bottle that only had an ounce missing. Demonstrated to me that they do not stand behind their product and they cannot be trusted. Never bought their product again. Would not recommend because of this.

Who you calling wild?!?!
Just an amateur bourbon guy here, adding to my infinity Whiskey bottle & Bourbon bottle, purchased.
To taste: As always I've sipped the first taste like hot coffee & my god it leaves by mouth salivating & wanting more! short sharp shot of ethanol followed by flavours I struggle to put to name. I've added some water to help identify this. Really opens the floor to floral flavour, slightly different to what they've noted down as citrus. With a high mash bill of corn you'd expect that corn field (wheat) taste all the way through b ut it only comes in the after taste once everything has settled.
To nose: ETHONOL... Warning to all newbies, this is due to high ABV, add a little drop of water, could help kill this for you & therefore enhance your experience. Sweet, with depth like cheap toffee that hasn't been taken too far.
All in all a Bourbon that I admire, especially for market price. BUDGET BOURBON is key, as it could easily out do bourbon £10 or so in price but is cheap enough to just be a simple mixer!!
1 - Shite
2 - Potential but needs something else
3 - well rounded, sometimes confusing & needs refining
4 - simply memorable, not overplayed & a great lasting taste
5 - Perfection

Lack of quality
For years I have enjoyed Wild Turkey 101 but recently I purchased 2 bottles with the same lot number and had a very off taste. I have been in contact with their costumer service and they indicated that this has been a recent issue and assured me that they would replace my purchase with a replacement. It has been a month and they have yet to make good on their promise. Customer service is key to any product, and will be switching to Maker’s Mark.

Rough, harsh, hot alcohol
Nasty, can’t hardly drink it in fact tossed my Glencarin shot today. Maybe a bad bottle nothing but harsh heat, no nose very little on the palate or finish. Very disappointed, might have to sin’ this one.

good smell, great taste, amazing price
smell: who cares? its subjective and made up on the spot. that being said it smells good. sweet and spicy then some alcohol smell on the finish.
taste: also who cares? maybe more so people than smell. it tastes great. if i tasted this blind i would say it was worth between 33 and 38 dollars not 22.99 marked down from 25.99 mainly because it is nice and warm and tastes similar to the smell.
yes there are things i dont like about it but for the price, for the proof, and comparing it to other things ive had the past few days..they dont really factor. insanely good. you just simply cannot be a snob and judge things outside of their price range which people always do. considering the price, color, smell, taste, finish, whatever. its five stars. dont drink a 3 dollar per liter mash and then give it one stars because youve had better, compare it to other similar priced mashs and actually use your brain and think about what rating it should get for the price.
