This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

If you like bourbon you really like WT 101. As a sipper to rolls all day, it is spicey and some say hot ( try a bottle of 2020 Jack) but I find it to be my favorite. Try all the $40 to $70 bourbons and finish with a sip of 101 to fill all the shortcomings. Try George Dickel #12,Rye and 100 Proof BIB. Sip one then 101, then sip another and finish with 101. 1966 to 1994 Drank JD before they ruined it.
A great sipping whiskey, it hits all the flavor notes. I would put it up against any Bourbon out there.
As someone that’s going through a hard time now cos of the pandemic, wt 101 put a smile on my face with its citrus oaky nose and honey and smoke palate. Then the burning sensation of a 101 proof comes around, reminding I’m going to have a good tipsy time soon. Perfect whiskey for the price!
It's dry. Toffee. I quite like it though. For the money I think this is probably one of the best value Bourban's out there..so far.
