This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

I am afraid I might be hooked. Granted I am not a connoisseur of bourbon but I have tried more than a few. I am on my 2nd bottle of WT-101 and think it is just about the best bourbon I have had so far. Yes it has a bit of kick, but I am liking that. Throat tickles and long lasting after burn feels nice. After a hard day at work I want this, not an inferior light weight bourbon. For the price this is good stuff. Try a bottle and I am pretty sure you will agree.
This is GOOD! By any standard. The 101 8 yr old is full of wood flavour. Smooth for 50.5% alc. Vol. I can recomend this to any real bourbon lover.
I bought my first bottle and drank this straight recently. This will be a staple in my cabinet. At $20.99 in WI, it's a great value.
I like my bourbon with a little attitude. WT is everything I ask for in a whiskey. Makers and Buffalo have their appeal but when I'm buying in the 20-35 range this is my go-to. If I want better Four Roses single barrel or Bookers is my step up if I don't just forgo bourbon and grab a bottle of JW Black. A great bourbon for an unbelievable price.
