This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

I'm from Kentucky and still is home no matter where I am. Wild Turkey 101 says Kentucky for me. It's price is modest in comparison to what you get. I love the Russells Reserve Rye almost as much. It's good to be a Kentuckian.
Like I said you can't go wrong with 101 it's everything a bourbon should be and you can't grumble at the price for what you get, it's in different league to the others in it's price range.
I got into whiskey on Hunter S. Thompson's recommendation: Wild Turkey 101 or Chivas Regal. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed dozens of blended and single malt Scotches, including bottles costing well over 100 dollars, as well as a few pretty pricey bourbons, and several other good quality spirits. I have enjoyed some downright divine whiskies, but I'm making less money now (by choice), so I need more bang for my buck. Even compared to some of my favorite single malt Scotches, Wild Turkey 101 is pure, balanced quality; delectable and shockingly affordable. Not too cherry-sweet like other bourbons I've tried; it's just enough Scotch-like: bready, toffee-ish, a bit savory, a bit medicinal-- while also hitting all the best bourbon notes-- cherry cola, vanilla, sweet/dry, charred oak, etc. A bit on the spicy/pepper side, which keeps it from tasting "flat," which I've gotten from a couple of other bourbons. I like it best with several drops of water added to open it up. And, unlike EVERY other bourbon except Four Roses (which I find boring-tasting), WT explicitly uses non-GMO corn. World class nose and taste, good quality and natural ingredients, high ABV, and all for dirt cheap! Efficiency in a bottle!
This is why the human race was invented: To create the best from the best! I live a few miles from Wild Turkey Distillery. It doesn't get any better than this! Wild Turkey 101 is THE best on this planet! :)
have tried much of the competition, but my first choice is wt 101 never disappoints always delivers
