This bottling of Wild Turkey has been aged for at least six years before coming out of the barrel at 109 proof. The whiskey is only diluted slightly before bottling at 101 proof with plenty of pep.
The nose is quite subdued, yet there remains a beautiful toffeyed sweetness. Notes of toasty oak and melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of zesty citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich with notes of cigar box sweetness, pepper, caramel, or ‘carmel’ should I say? Notes of honey on granary toast with a little melted butter. The finish is long and rich with spice and toast notes.

For the money it's a good value. Maybe just a bit more bite than Jack on ice but very good. Almost always drink my Bourbon with a few cubes of ice. Tames it just a bit and brings out the sweetness.
Was very impressed very pleasing to the palate smooth allways like a rye bourbon had makers mark and booker rate it up there with them was good neat but on the rocks it brought out the barrel price was easy on the pocket too
Been getting into Bourbons for a while and this is the best I have had. Love the spicy Rye flavours and mouth feel. Strong but not harsh. Lots of oak, vanilla and tobacco notes. Great sipping or knocking back. Just wish I could pay US prices for this as I don't think I would be without a bottle! :)
I have tried almost every bourbon I can could get my hands on over the last 30 years, and I can say that there is no better regular pour that WT101. It is to me the embodiment of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Shots of 101 provided lots of entertainment in my younger, wilder days and is at the heart of many great stories of debauchery. As I matured and started to appreciate bourbon as a hobby and started to try many more expensive and critically acclaimed bottles of the "brown water" I found myself always coming back to this whiskey, its flavor, nose and finish are just unbeatable as a go-to bourbon. Beyond that its value and availability make it make it something to enjoy in good times and bad ( should I marry Jimmy Russell? Lol) There may be dalliances with other bourbons but WT101 is always the one I come home to!
One of my favorite low price bourbons. Can't go wrong with the price. If you like bourbon, Wild Turkey must be on your list to try. Incredible vanilla and caramel favors. Just make sure to add a little water to bring out the flavors behind the strong alcohol ABV 51.5%. Always have a bottle available when friends come visiting!
