A very peaty Caol Ila from Wemyss Malts, who favour evocative names for their releases, this being no exception. Smokiness abounds and this is a great dram for those in search of phenolic excellence.
Peat and ash, with carbolic and kippers. Some sweet salinity too, with lots and lots of smoke.
The smoke swirls on the palate before giving way to a touch of sweetness. Typical Caol Ila flavours abound with milky barley and bacon.
Dark treacle and tar ooze slowly off the tongue.
A veritable bonfire on the beach. Delicious.
