A lot of drinks fans will have a bottle somewhere in their collection that they're saving for a special occasion, or only have a glass from every once in a blue moon because it's so special. This whisky right here is not that. This is Weeknight Whisky, an expression that you can enjoy as a good value-for-money and reliable regular sipper. The whisky itself is a solid Speyside single malt, aged for eight years, taking on plenty of yummy sherried notes during its maturation. Tasty stuff indeed!
Caramelised nuts and chocolate mousse, with a crackle of cinnamon and cassia.
Still quite chocolatey, with honeyed apples and a touch of sweet orange appearing.
Sultanas, raspberry jam on toast, vanilla pod, and black pepper.
Instantly recognisable as a superb Speysider.
Well, I’d read the tasting notes and I decided that an 8yo Malt from Speyside at that price… couldn’t be too bad could it? It’s gorgeous, it’s full of flavour, it’s a blast from the past and I love it.
Just a lovely flavour at the right price.
Liked so much the recipient who usually drinks anything aged 15 years or more and single malt asked for another bottle.
Not unpleasant by any means, but short on depth and expensive for what it is, also strangely cloudy..
At £25-30 it's fine. But £50 for a 40% 8yr old indy bottling is punchy....
