Writers Tears Copper Pot Irish Whiskey

Writers Tears is a light, sweet Irish whiskey made using a mix of single pot still and single malt whiskeys, resulting in oodles of honeyed, fruity notes. Wonderfully easy to drink, it would make for a great introduction to Irish whiskey for folks new to the spirit. (No writers were harmed in the making of this whiskey.)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft and sweet with thick honey spread on granary toast. Hints of citrus peels.

    Palate

Honey develops on the palate. Mellow notes of vanilla and golden malt. Green apple skin, caramel and a hint of oak.

    Finish

    Warming, sweet and long.

    Overall

    Very yummy Irish whiskey indeed.

    Spider is right!

My actual rating 4.5 / 5.0 Bought this based on blog post extolling the virtues of this dram. I have to say, it is heavenly. Incredibly smooth with moderate amounts of warmth and incredibly smooth. The only con for this bottle is the shipping costs to the US. Otherwise, one of the best bottles - bar none - that I have tasted. Would be happy to drink this all day. Highly recommended.

    Inoffensively inoffensive

This isn't unpleasant but like so many spirits for sale today it clearly has not benefitted from refill casks. There is altogether too much whisky for sale that tastes of nothing much and smells of nothing much. This is one of them.

    Love it

I am a Bushmills drinker but I tried this cause a friend bought me a bottle for my birthday. I think I will be buying more claiming writers block. Perhaps I will turn into a Brendan Behan.

    Macallam 25

Had 25E in my pocket as I was leaving Ireland after a 2 week golf trip. Bought a bottle at the Dublin Airport. What a surprise. Being a confirmed scotch drinker, Writers Tears is my new drink of choice. To bad it's not available in the U.S, but I'm only 30 minutes from Canada, so I' m making regular trips to pick a case for myself and friends. We love it.. Wish it was available here. Not going to spend $700 Macallam anymore.
