Writers Tears Copper Pot Irish Whiskey

Writers Tears is a light, sweet Irish whiskey made using a mix of single pot still and single malt whiskeys, resulting in oodles of honeyed, fruity notes. Wonderfully easy to drink, it would make for a great introduction to Irish whiskey for folks new to the spirit. (No writers were harmed in the making of this whiskey.)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft and sweet with thick honey spread on granary toast. Hints of citrus peels.

    Palate

Honey develops on the palate. Mellow notes of vanilla and golden malt. Green apple skin, caramel and a hint of oak.

    Finish

    Warming, sweet and long.

    Overall

    Very yummy Irish whiskey indeed.

    Mild and mellow

A mild and mellow sip that isn't too overpowering but still delivers with nice notes of caramel and a hint of unrobe mango.

Delicious warming smooth whiskey reminds me of a more expensive green spot or redbreast. Can't wait to try another one and a great price

Sweet and honeyed as other reviewers say, and nothing disagreeable. Burn mellows out with a few drops of water. But a bit thin. Wanted more depth, spice, earth, something with character and eccentricity. Particularly with such a great name.

    Beyond my expectations

I had never heard of the Writer's Tears brand but I had some time at Shannon Aiport so I thought I'd taste a few as there was a samplingof 8 or so. I was first drawn in by it's beautuful golden colour but completely swept away and kept in by the taste. I wasn't expecting great things honestly as it was in such a lower price range compared to what it was being tasted with and I hadn't heard of it but I was very pleasently surprised. Now I only wish I brought back two bottles!
