Douglas Laing is well-known for bottling up fab whiskies, and it has added to its selection of rather special releases (dubbed the Xtra Old particular range) with this 25 year old Tormore! It was distilled in August 1995 and left to age in a single refill hogshead for quarter of a century until December 2020, when it was bottled up at 51.1% ABV. Just 314 bottles were produced.
The nose opens with summer straw and tangy gooseberries developing to green apples and candied nuts. The palate bursts with vanilla's oak, warming nutmeg and buttery oat biscuits. There's a dried banana chip sweetness on the finish with orchard fruits and lemon rind.
