A superb value 25 year old from the Highland distillery, Tomatin, This is more of a Speyside style malt, and it was awarded 93 points at the International Review of Spirits in 2006 with the comment "exceptional quality".
The nose is quite well-balanced and full-bodied. There are notes of chewy apple and fruit salad, hints of grist and barley malt, a touch of smoke with notes of grape and cereal. The palate is full-bodied and punchy. There are notes of cut herbs and the teas made thereof. Hints of orange zest and lemon juice, notes of fruit salad with gooseberries and pineapple. There are shades of peppermint leaves. The finish is of good length and expertly balanced with perfect harmony to its soft acidity and sweetness.

I happened across a few of these bottles recently. Despite their low proof the nose is incredible and the taste matches. One of the rare opportunities I will have to taste and nose a whisky from this time period and I am not disappointed.
