Ledaig 18 Year Old

Ahh, Ledaig! A cracking single malt that proves Islay isn't the only place to get your hands on splendidly peaty whisky - the Tobermory distillers on the Isle of Mull also know their way around peated malt for sure. This is the 18 Year Old Ledaig single malt, which offers up hearty phenols, smoky herbs, cracked black pepper and balancing waves of Sherry-soaked fruit. Excellent stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Honey, baked earth with a hint of mineraly smoke, very slightly chocolatey. Orange oil and tropical fruit juice in the background.

Palate Grassy peat with sea breeze in tow, almond butter, lemon zest, biscuit dough, honeydew melon.

Finish Toasted barley and salty liquorice.

Not bad...given who its up against....
Ardbeg man and Islay in general....but..gld I gave it a chance ! amazing balance with the smoke and sweetness..doesnt really last long enough on the finish for me but still very enjoyable....

Incredible
Opened this with a friend and we could barely hold a conversation as each time one of us took a sip we had to stop to say how good it was.

It really is one of the best whiskies out there at this price point, absolutely incredible. I hope they can keep it up.

Sherry and peat
Loved this one. Talisker 18 was always my go to 'premium' malt, but since the price hike I've migrated over to this. Perhaps it's not as refined; however, the peat is less tamed by time in the barrel and retains an intensity rarely found in 18 year old scotch. Nice that it's a non-chill filtered 46% presentation too.

One of the best 18yr old whiskies there is
When you have been drinking whisky for a long time, it gets harder to find bottles that give you a special malt moment. This bottle however did just that. One of those whiskies where you think ‘wow that’s nice stuff’. A delicate balance of the peat with this sweet butterscotch note. It’s smooth and delicious. One of the best 18yr olds on the market without a doubt. There is one bad thing though… it’s so drinkable that the bottle goes down pretty damn quick. Guess I’ll have to purchase another!

The daddy of peated sherried whisky.
one of the great malts of this age. Powerful with intriguing, 46% is perfection.

A very pleasant whisky indeed.
I’ve always rather liked Ledaig whiskies from Tobermory and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint.
The smokiness is not overdone and combines well with a fruity, peppery and spicy taste.
One of my all time favourites.

Very, very nice
Most extravagant purchase I've made in whisky but very happy and the bottle didn't last long. Caresses the neck, sends you to a quite, warm and calm place. Very, very nice.

Ledaig 18, Isle of Mull -
Nice and woodsy. Complex enough for an 18 year old.
