    Product details

    The Sexton Single Malt

The creation of master blender Alex Thomas, The Sexton Single Malt Irish whiskey is made from 100% Irish malted barley, triple distilled in copper pot stills. After, the liquid is aged in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks imparting a rich and fruity character. It comes in a rather eye-catching hexagonal bottle, too.

“The first time I had heard of The Sexton, I was telling the lady at the liquor store that I don't like smooth whiskey, I like the stuff that burns, and hits you, and makes you want to spike the shot glass like a football and punch the person next to you. So she said "You need to try Sexton, that's done in copper pots and it's like hell fire going down". SOLD! I got home, and opened the bottle expecting a smoke skull to waft out of the bottle and laugh at me for digging my own grave... but it didn't happen... I sniffed it... "this smells pretty good actually" I thought. I poured a shot, and slurped in enough to get a taste, but not so much that I might die... "This is actually really good." And not in a "this whiskey just punched my liver right out my butthole" good... like this is my new go-to Irish whiskey good. Move over Jameson, you've been replaced. ”

Reviews for The Sexton Single Malt

Much Different an Irish Than I'm Used To..

I bought a trial bottle of Sexton this week. It is richer and darker than I was expecting..one review says more Scotch-like and I agree. It has a good taste and mouth feel. But on the two occasions I've sampled it, a dram (two ounce) per day, it's given me a dull headache and sleepy. Is it "boosted" with Everclear ? The bottle is unique, but is a sloppy pour resulting in drips down the side...I transferred the elixir into an empty Dimple bottle and put the Sexton on display above the cupboard

    More a Scotch

Pre-amble: All whiskey reviews are relative. I try to make use of the full 1 to 5 scale so that it actually has a purpose. My base 5 star is a Redbreast 12, if you rate it a 1 you are firstly a vodka drinker but more importantly you can skip this. Difficult to place this whiskey, as it doesn't drink like an Irish. It's a coarser Aberlour 12, so it's more of a trad Scotch with the Aberlour notes.

    Incredible value

For the price point this really is a phenomenal whiskey. It tastes like it should be twice the price. The tasting notes are spot on and if you like toffee, Christmas-cake qualities in a whiskey, you can't go too far wrong with this. An easy, every day drop

    Laws of economics

There is a reason this whisky is so cheap. It's because it is terrible. One of the worst I have tried, but it's my own fault: I should have known.

    Complex smooth and satisfying

Normally, I can tell you what I’m tasting. Here, there are so many different dimensions, it’s difficult to describe. I have warmth, dried fruit, leather, tobacco, and goodness knows what else. This is really good stuff
