This is the first batch of Macallan Rare Cask single malt released in 2019! In 2018, Macallan started to release its Rare Cask expression in batches, with four batches planned for release in 2019. Each batch is a vatting of 50 sherry butts, showing off the distillery's history of excellent sherried expressions.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Soft notes of opulent vanilla and raisin pique the nose, giving way to a sweet ensemble of apple, lemon and orange.
Oak resonates, timeless, polished and rich. Vanilla and chocolate lead the finale along with a light citrus zest.
Full and warming.

This is being pushed as a collector’s whisky but it’s not particularly rare and as Macallan are pushing a new ‘rare’ release out of the cellar doors every 3 months they are at risk of destroying the equity and credibility of their brand. Even mug punters wise up eventually! Having said that I bought a bottle to actually drink (apparently you can do that) and I have to say that I’m really enjoying it! Very smooth, plenty going on the nose and pallet although the finish is a little short. As I work down the bottle it actually seems to be maturing and becoming easier to drink. I will definitely be buying another one as they aren’t rare at all!
Great!
Bought, drank, and enjoyed! Smooth as silk with fantastic flavour. As good as/ if not better than anything else in the £200 price range. If you’re looking for something to store, maybe not!! If you’re looking for something to enjoy, this is it!!!!!!!

Hugely overpriced expression of whisky we know for years. Nothing different about it except for the price that grows considerably every year while quality is more and more questionable. This is the best way to put people off Macallan.
