Amber is part of The Macallan's new no age statement range of Speyside single malts, which concentrates on colour. The theory is that by using 100% sherry casks and natural colour, the darker the whisky, the older and more complex.

Soft aromatic vanilla, lemon and barley with hints of ginger. Milk chocolate buttons and hints of Sun-Maid Raisins.
Surprisingly thick and fruity compared to the nose. Golden sultanas, dates, apple peelings and a dusting of cinnamon. Cereal notes on the mid-palate, joined by mince pies with crumbly shortbread.
Fragrant oak finish, with the mince pie notes lingering.
The second level in the 1824 Series, after the more citrus-led Gold.

...good whisky as usual, not one to remember for the ages, but decent and possibly the only good malt in their terrible advents calendar.
It's really light on smell and delicate, soft taste. Very easy to enjoy, drinkable, good for beginers because of not strong taste and body
I don't have a problem with not having age statements. In some ways, not having an age statement allows the distiller to blend the whiskys with an eye only to flavor, and not being prevented from using a certain barrel in the blend for because some arbitrary age designation isn't being met. That being said... I'm a little suspicious that Macallan is using these non-age stated whiskys as a way to deal with the fact that they simply can't meet demand right now. Anyway... I thought this whisky was just OK, and kind of lacked depth of flavor. I suppose it's a little lighter than most scotch, if that's what you're looking for. For this price though, I could get a far superior whisky from Macallan or another distiller and still have money left over.
Bought a bottle for a friend's birthday. Had the pleasure of sharing it with him and friends. New to all of us and it was wonderful. Full flavors of vanilla and smooth finish. While a bit pricey in Toronto well worth the price. By the way, age be damned this is really good stuff.
Not great on the nose but an unexpected delight - silky smooth and full of fruit. A good one to catch out whiskey snobs!Overall tastes similar to the Macallan 10 and normally £50 plus - this is great value. last tip - 2 drops of water makes it even more drinkable
