Tenjaku Whisky

A tasty blended Japanese whisky here, Tenjaku is made with corn and barley, and aged in American white oak bourbon barrels. The Japanese characters you can spot on the label translate to "hibari", more commonly known as the skylark. We reckon a Highball will showcase this one very well!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose A faint suggestion of smoke with pear blossom and plump sultana.

Palate Tinned pears on the palate, with banana bread and thick custard.

Finish Creamy oak spice and a floral elderflower finish.

Reviews for Tenjaku Whisky
Really Horrible Experience
This whisky is cheap for a good reason and this reason is that it smells and tastes absolutely disgusting, my tasting notes include burnt dry plums and sharp burnt wood, first bottle of whisky ever I’m not able to finish

Not a bad whisky
Very average whisky, nothing too exciting going on. I would say a good intro into Japanese whisly, its affordable and easy accessable.

Recenzii

Worth trying
I have been drinking mainly Scotch, Irish and Australian whiskey. Tried this as it was reasonably priced and was described well. I am enjoying it. Although in the future I will probably buy a top end higher priced Japanese whiskey to share with friends over time. NOTE: I am not a big drinker more enjoy the odd whiskey every week or two

Damn good.
I have to wholeheartedly disagree with all the negativity here. I honestly don't understand unless you bought a completely different bottle or you're reviewing the wrong Japanese whisky. The whisky I sampled is Tenjaku & if you're deciding if you should grab a bottle, just do it. Someone said they spit it out & it felt like razorblades on their throat, huh?! Trust me, this is smooth af & delicious. Great price point too. Cheers

Rough and unrefined.
Grain heavy and rough. I doubt there’s much Japanese whisky in this. Nikka are able to make decent blends (even without much Japanese whisky in them either). I’d suggest if you want something ‘Japanese’ you spend a few extra quid and get something from Nikka.

Worth the money
Middle Of the road, walking, not driving. Certainly not as good as The Chita but lots better than Bells 🤣🤣

Darn nice!
Forget the reviews I'm a seasoned whisky drinker of over 20 years and I adore the Japanese whisky brands and this is top notch. Very very smooth and quaffable. Recommended.

Not becoming of Japanese quality
I have been drinking Japanese whiskey for close to 20 years a d I lived in Japan for 3 years so I know the quality Japan has to offer regarding spirits. I was extremely disappointed sampling my first glass of Tenjaku on the rocks. The aroma is way off (very off putting) and the back end of the palette is left sticky and tastes like syrupy butterscotch. Not a pleasant experience! This whiskey is not in keeping with the better single grain Japanese whiskeys I have come to cherish. Frankly, this whiskey tarnishes the good name of Japanese whiskey.
