The flagship expression from Dublin's Teeling, the Small Batch Irish whiskey is made with a blend of malt and grain whiskeys, initially aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. Following that, the Teeling folks moved the whiskey over to casks that had previously held Central American rum! In these casks, the whiskey had an extra rest for up to 12 months, before being bottled at 46% ABV without any chill-filtration. Wonderfully full-flavoured, with plenty of fresh fruit, creamy vanilla and lively spice notes to enjoy!
Cut grass and orange blossom. Allspice, hints of vanilla, apple pie and blackberries.
Spiced, rich palate with rose petal jelly and lemon curd. Creamy vanilla, hints of dried herbs and cinnamon.
Floral, herbal finish. Caramel on the tail.
A deliciously creamy, spicy and rich Irish blend.
Was pretty disappointed. Not a expert by no means and this is my first review I've even written but I felt I could save someone some money by writing this. It was the blandest whiskey I've had in a long time. Tasted very watered down and mostly just taste the alcohol and not much else. Both me and my brother didn't finish out glasses. Added a couple drops of water hoping to open some kinda flavor but only made it worse. My go to whiskey is Balvenie and I'm a big bourbon fan so maybe it's just not my taste profile.
If you are just starting out drinking whiskey try this one. It has a rounded taste, not too sharp and slips down the throat like a dream.
I am an enthusiast rather than an expert. I have struggled a bit with Irish Whiskey...I found Green Spot underwhelming but loved Black Bush...Yellow Spot was a bit of a turning point once I was past the neck, it became all it was promised to be. Complex creamy et al...I digress. I bought the small batch on a whim ..Its very good. You get added complexity from the higher abv and it's full of oomph, quite grainy and very sweet. It does taste a bit young...HOWEVER.. anybody who has thought Irish was smooth, bland and easy drinking should try this vey affordable drop. It's a good one
I'm no expert however this is what i got; Sweet, smooth vanilla taste, caramel on the nose and a creamy finish. Very, very drinkable. Cheers
Add a splash of water and give it plenty of time to open up.
