The Teeling team has gone and finished a superb single grain in red wine casks for this lip-smacking expression! The whiskey, which is made with 95% corn and 5% malted barley, is firstly aged in ex-bourbon casks before being moved over ex-Bordeaux red wine casks for an additional four years, bringing oodles of warm red fruit notes to the table. Bottled up at 13 years of age, this expression shows off everything we love about single grain whiskey, with the additional deliciousness of juicy red berries thrown in for good measure. Delightful!
Dried cherry, melted butter, cassia, and a floral waft or two.
Spiced fruit compote, raspberry ripple ice cream, caramel, and a pinch of pepper.
Softly oaky on the finish, with continued vanilla.
$34.36 - $131.50
It was bloody great from first to last dram.
This whiskey is all together beautifully different, baffled how a 50% abv bottle could be so smooth. The red berries almost sour cherry or and raspberry is front and centre and the nose on this whiskey may very well be my favourite nose on a whiskey yet in fact taste may very well be my favourite I’ll just poor another dram just to make sure.
Rich like red wine on the nose and in flavour. There's a fantastic Berry flavour (raspberry predominantly) and I can't understate the smoothness of this. It's also a slight pink tinge to the colour which is so interesting. Pay the money for this
bI have Always been impressed by Teeling after meeting "the brothers" who started the Brand at Whisky Live a few years ago, when I bought their Single Grain Ccre range bottling and their 5 cask single malt! A sample of this was just given me by Diageo superstar Colin Dunn which I am greatly enjoying on this my 71st birthday, along with some other great drams I dare not mention. This stands out as a beautifully rich and expressive dram. It needs no water, but floats across the palate despite the high ABV. It is the core range expression turn up to11. I Love it. Highly recommended. PS> I am normally a peat head Lagavulin/Talisker freak, but this is a perfect example of o "the other side!"
