If fruit-forward single malts are your thing, this expression from Tamdhu should certainly tickle your fancy! Matured in American oak, the whisky was then treated to a finishing period in a ruby Port pipe, imparting oodles of juicy fruit and jam character to the sweet, nutty malt. A release of 762 bottles by the Vintage Malt Whisky Co. for The Cooper's Choice collection.
Baked blackcurrants, blackberry crumble, a touch of clove.
Biscuity malt opens the way for heaps of juicy Port character with rich red fruits and warming woody spice.
Chestnuts, candied orange, a whiff of fennel, and boozy cherries.

Considering the 59% ABV this drinks well. Slight ethanol on the finish. The initial fruit explosion is real. Blackberry jam, fig, apricot and dates stand out along with a slight dried woody mid palatte. Tamdhus are normally a bit fruit forward I find and this takes that to a new level. The port finish is definitely noticeable. Almost a syrupy character. Great change of pace from my normal coastal varieties.
