A blended whisky from The House of Suntory's three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita. Toki has a different composition to another Suntory blend, Hibiki, as its main components are Hakashu single malt and Chita grain whisky. It should work really well in a highball.
Fun fact: 'Toki' means 'time' in Japanese.
Soft orchard fruits and thyme honey are joined by a helping of peppermint in the backdrop.
More green apple on the palate leads along bright citrus notes from pink grapefruit. Bitter herbs, toasted almonds and vanilla oak linger underneath.
White pepper and ginger add spice to the finish.

It may not be in the same class as Hibiki but this is great stuff. Nicely balanced with subtle smoke, a touch of honeyed sweetness with somehow a savoury quality as well. Longish slightly spicy finish.
Sweet fruit on the nose , and loving the spicy ends notes on this whiskey. Very clean taste , and at 43% very smooth on the mouth. My first Japanese whiskey and im impressed.
New at reviews and first Japanese whiskey and going in unbiased because I haven't read about this at all before tasting and writing. Here's what I smell and taste. Sampled room temp around 75 degrees out of a small brandy snifter. On the nose I smell sweet fruit like apple and over-ripe pear and even a touch of banana. There is also a fairly hefty dose of clean ethanol smell, like I get from some pot still Irish or even moonshine lol. First taste is very light and bright, quite pleasant, fruity and sweet but not overly, With a few more sips the lightness gives way to more body and richness. I like the balance. By the third sip I realize this isn't quite like anything I have had. I think I taste a little bit of peat if that is possible in Japanese whiskey, but very subtle. Kind of like one part highland whiskey 3 or more parts good Irish. Overall I'm really enjoying it and glad I bought this and think I will drink it all neat or with a little water. Recommended.
As title says, it does smell quite sweet, but the flavour is quite dry. It does have a smooth smoke, but these combinations made it difficult to pair with a mixer and a little too dry for me to go back again and enjoy on ice. Don't regret buying it, but will definitely try a single malt Japanese next time.
very average, only good for mixing.
