Speyside (M) 15 Year Old 2009 - Small Batch Edition #19 (Signatory)
From one of Speyside’s most famously sherried distilleries (though Signatory’s lips are sealed) this 15-year-old single malt was matured in a combination of 1st and 2nd fill oloroso sherry butts. Un-chillfiltered, naturally coloured, and bottled with a healthy dose of mystery, it’s a proper sherry-lover’s dram at an excellent age.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Stewed prunes and sticky toffee pudding, with walnut loaf, dusty cinnamon, and hints of leather-bound books.
Palate
Rich and syrupy with black cherries, spiced orange, dark chocolate, and a twinge of balsamic reduction. Earthy tobacco and roasted nuts round it out beautifully.
Finish
Bold and warming with treacle, dark roast coffee, and a flicker of clove that hangs on deliciously.
