A great Islay single malt from an unnamed distillery. The Ileach always scores well with the critics, this cask strength edition was awarded a mindblowingly high 97 points by Jim Murray in his 2010 Whisky Bible.
So I just opened this up at a bbq. One one hand, at 58 percent, it is sharp and it does pack quite the punch. On the other hand, the smokiness is very nice, and leaves a nice warm feeling going down. I guess it depends as to whether you like cask strength whiskies or not. I personally though it to be good, and some agreed with me. Some did not, and to each their own. I join those that recommended adding a little ice/water, as it does make it easier to drink. Might buy again, if reasonably price
Finally got the water right! WOW!
I’m NOT by any manner o’ means a whisky connoisseur, but this whisky has become my most favourite of them all!!!
Tastes like a sweet Bowmore For a 58 % does not burn but then the finish is short in my opinion until you have a few There is peat there but only just ---But then I am a peat head
What can be said about this whisky that’s NOT been said before! As I read in one review, it’s now my go to Islay whisky!
